St. Michael Special School vs. Raphael Academy

St. Michael Special School is celebrating our 60th year educating students age five through adulthood with intellectual and developmental disabilities (i.e.

those with mild to moderate disabilities, including autism, ADHD, developmental delay, Down Syndrome, traumatic brain injury, multiple disabilities, and other health impaired).

The curriculum includes religion, reading, language arts, math, science, social studies, computer, creative arts, culinary science, vocational training, independent living, community integration, physical education, theatre, film production, sign language, and music.

Raphael Academy in New Orleans, LA serves 11 students in grades 2 through 12 in a nonsectarian, city–based special education program.

Founded in 2012, Raphael Academy is located in the Irish Channel neighborhood and has a student–teacher ratio of 4:1 with three teachers on staff.

The school has a diverse student body with 36% representation of students of color.

Raphael Academy is a co–ed private school offering specialized education within New Orleans' larger private school community.

The school is a member of other religious and special emphasis associations while maintaining nonsectarian orientation.
