Overview
Westminster School is dedicated to providing a superb elementary and middle-school education whose fundamental goals for each child are a disciplined and well-informed mind, strength of character, dedication to learning, generosity of spirit, and joy in the possibilities of life.
The Westminster program is founded on a traditional curriculum that affords an accelerated pace of learning in an atmosphere that promotes respect, integrity, kindness, and a sense of excellence.
Westminster's academic program provides thorough training in basic subjects within a broad humanities curriculum. The Classical tradition, great books, and exposure to the arts are emphasized and integrated throughout an accelerated, thoroughly rounded program.
Especially unique is Westminster School's dedication to building poise, self-confidence and positive personal presentation. This is achieved in many ways, but most exceptionally in the strong drama program at the school. Each student participates in a play every year, culminating with a Shakespeare production in the 7th grade and a musical in the 8th grade. Every student has a speaking role.
Browne Academy is committed to the preschool-8th grade experience and the academic, social and emotional foundation it provides our students.
We deliberately focus our attention and resources to the years of childhood and early adolescence, giving time for students to mature and tap into their abilities while preserving their childlike sense of joy, wonder and curiosity. The continuity of teachers, classmates, programs and expectations provides a safe and nurturing learning environment, where children and young adolescents feel safe taking risks, developing leadership skills and exploring new possibilities.
