Fifth-through eighth-graders from Buffalo and Western New York will compete this weekend in the sixth annual Sean Patrick Scott Memorial Basketball Tournament in the Gloria J. Parks Community Center, 3242 Main St. The double- elimination rounds begin at 6 p. m. Friday.

Cardinal O'Hara High School, Tonawanda, N.Y., announced that its 2009 Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame inductees will include Paul Schreckenberger, of River Forest, Ph.D. and a graduate of the class of 1965.

When Saint Joseph’s Church in North Tonawanda was closed last year, the question arose on what to do with church items, such as pews and magnificent stained glass windows.
