Tour our school and see Baker's signature Cardboard Challenge in action! Our admissions team and parent ambassadors will lead guided tours and answer any questions you may have. Tours begin at 11:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2 p.m. The Cardboard Challenge is an all-school, all-ages event that brings the Baker community together for a time of hands-on fun and creativity. For the Cardboard Challenge, we invite families to use their imagination to create something cool using only cardboard, duct tape and art supplies. Choosing a preschool is the first step in a child`s lifelong journey of learning. As parents, it can be a challenge to find a perfect fit. Join Dr. Megan Roberts and Carly Andrews to learn what makes a good preschool experience, myths about what learning looks like, the power of play, the importance of relationships in the preschool setting, and why Baker may be a fit for your family.Megan Roberts is an associate professor in the Roxelyn and Richard Pepper Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at Northwestern University. Her work focuses on family-centered early communication interventions for young children with language delays. This clinically based line of research examines different variations of parent-implemented communication interventions tailored specifically for different populations of children with language delays. Her research has been funded by the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders and the Institute of Education Sciences.Carly Andrews joined Baker Demonstration School in 2017 as Head of School. Prior to Baker, she served as Head of School at Willowwind School, a progressive independent PK-6th grade school in Iowa City, Iowa and as Assistant Head of School as well as Head of Middle at Bosque School, a 6th-12th grade independent school in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Prior to her work in school leadership, Carly taught English, humanities, and poetry courses in independent, suburban, and urban secondary school settings. She is interested in progressive documentation and assessment practices, mindfulness practices in the classroom setting, place-based and experience-based educational models, public and private partnerships in the school setting, and cultural exchange and service learning.Questions?Email admissions@bakerdemschool.org.
