Parenting Gifted Children Strategies for SuccessWednesday, April 246:30 - 8:00 pmIt can be challenging to find parenting strategies that are effective in meeting the needs of gifted children. Parenting gifted children can be full of unique joys, and challenges, and research shows that certain parenting approaches are more successful than others. Based on her book, Parenting Young Gifted Children: What to Expect When You Have the Unexpected, professional counselor and author Catherine Gruener will share information about the unique social and emotional characteristics of gifted children, common parenting challenges, and parent strategies, while leading some hands-on parent training exercises. Do you want to learn more about the process of IQ testing? Meet Psychologist Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel at Science & Arts Academy on November 15 to learn more how IQ testing helps parents identify a child`s unique needs and talents. Dr. Patel will equip parents with all of the information they need to better understand the various subtests used to determine IQ, the domain areas within those subtests, achievement versus ability in children, as well as testing validity and reliability. Dr. Vinita Bhojwani-Patel is a licensed School Psychologist who has spent the last several years working with school-aged students who are experiencing academic challenges or are in need of learning support, including gifted students. Dr. Patel has a Bachelor`s degree in Psychology, a Master`s degree in Education, and a Doctorate in School Psychology from Loyola University of Chicago.
