Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #2 - Opening the North Wing in September 2015, Chiaravalle became the first LEED Platinum Montessori school addition in the US and the first LEED Platinum independent school addition in Illinois.
Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #3 - The North Wing features a green roof, geothermal heating and cooling system, and ecologically-conscious building materials throughout. This is more than building choices, it's a commitment to respect the earth's resources. By setting the bar so high, Chiaravalle challenges our community to make a difference in the world and for the future.
Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #4 - In Middle School, the day is divided into individual work and group work. Individual work shapes the skills, abilities, and interests of each student, working alone or in small, self-chosen groups. Group work is done in teams, which reconfigured regularly, working together on academic tasks in the thematic units.
Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #5 - The Elementary school day is designed to prioritize the three-hour Montessori work cycle to protect flow and concentration. Children plan their time, balance their learning, be part of a community and find their passions. We give children time to dream, to search for fairness, to make decisions, to teach each other, to make mistakes and learn from them.
Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #6 - Our Early Childhood classrooms are inviting spaces designed to entice each child to move, touch and explore. Much learning at this age is processed through the hand. Children work independently and with peers, based on their interests and guided by their teachers. Montessori classrooms are identifiable by the iconic materials that teach foundational skills.
Chiaravalle Montessori School Photo #7 - The Infant/Toddler program offers thoughtfully planned classrooms to enhance children's independence. The furniture and materials are toddler-sized. Children explore, moving from activity to activity as they like. If they choose to spend extended time in a concentrated work, they will not be interrupted. This way, meaning and dignity are given to a toddler's learning.
Chiaravalle Montessori`s approach to learning means it's connected and relevant. We provide a modern Montessori education that inspires kids to grow and shine.
And they flourish as independent, compassionate, and innovate thinkers. Our prepared learning environments promote deep understanding through purposeful movement, hands on materials, project-based interdisciplinary learning, extending beyond the homeroom.
Our students feel at home while at school.  Chiaravalle offers opportunities for students of all ages to develop essential life skills to effectively work, play, and create with others.
Chiaravalle is located at the corner of Dempster and Hinman in Evanston, south of Northwestern University, close to Lake Michigan, and convenient to public transportation.
Named a 2017 U.S. Department of Education Green Ribbon School, we look forward to sharing our vibrant community and LEED Platinum North Wing with you.
