Beresford Montessori has been a cornerstone of early childhood education in our community since 1992.
Founded in San Mateo, our school was established with a vision to provide children with a nurturing environment rooted in the Montessori philosophy, fostering independence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of learning. As our community grew, so did our commitment to serving more families, leading to the expansion of our second campus in Redwood City in 2003 and later our third campus on Claremont Street in San Mateo in 2021.
This growth has allowed us to extend our reach while maintaining the close-knit, personalized atmosphere that defines our approach.
As we continue to evolve, our mission remains steadfast: to provide an enriching Montessori education that lays the foundation for a lifetime of learning and success.
We take children from 2.5 thorugh 6 years of age. The children need to be potty trained.

- At Beresford Montessori, we are dedicated to nurturing the whole child, intellectually, emotionally, physically, and socially, in a loving and stimulating environment. Guided by Montessori principles, we create thoughtfully prepared classrooms that encourage independence, curiosity, and self-directed learning.Children are free to explore at their own pace, choosing activities that reflect their interests while supporting their developmental needs.
- Our educators act as careful observers and guides, introducing new concepts at just the right moment to ensure each child feels both supported and challenged. This balanced approach fosters a true partnership between teacher and child.
- Above all, we strive to cultivate not only academic excellence but also empathy, respect, and a sense of global citizenship. We hope that each child who passes through our doors develops a lifelong love for learning, a compassionate heart, and an appreciation for the world around them.
