School Notes

Lumen Academy is a non-profit PreK-8 private school.
We are educators and parents that prioritize rigorous, classical academics, alongside a nurturing environment that facilitates personal & interpersonal growth.

No matter which specific skills will be valued in the workforce of tomorrow, free-thinking and articulate adults capable of acquiring new skills rapidly and independently will always be in demand across industries. To prepare our students to be lifelong learners, we follow a classical education model: an intellectual, content-focused curriculum that teaches students how to think and how to learn. Classical education rests on three pillars: grammar, logic, and rhetoric. Each pillar dominates a different stage of child development [though all are present at each stage].
Academic Philosophy: We are educators and parents building a non-profit school that prioritizes rigorous, classical academics.
>Where students develop multiple languages (including any native tongue) to mastery
>Where students are appropriately challenged and consistently engaged across disciplines
>Where our teachers are subject specialists who are encouraged to supplement lessons with their passions & their students' curiosities.
Environment & Culture: We also strive to cultivate a nurturing environment that facilitates personal & interpersonal growth
>Where students get support & inspiration from age-optimal schedules, ongoing mentoring & creative spaces
>Where students build lasting connections through creative arts, outdoor activities, other extracurriculars & community events
>Where students become imaginative, self-confident & reflective individuals capable of clear, free-thinking & civil discourse

This school is young. This school is incredible. Very much into raising kids smart, kind, and thoughtful - just the way it should be. It speaks for itself that the founders and teachers have their own kids there. I have never seen such an enthusiastic community. My kids love it there!
