They give the child a sense of organization and concentration, as well as an appreciation of a completed cycle of activity.
The philosophical foundation of the Montessori approach is based on the premise that education should be an aid to life.
In order to develop their physical, intellectual and spiritual powers to the fullest, children must have freedom a freedom to be achieved through order and self-discipline.
Respect for a child's personality and trust in the inner potentialities are prerequisite to the foundation of an adequate educational alliance between the child and the adult.
In the Montessori classroom today, the environment is carefully prepared with manipulative materials created by Dr. Montessori.
The children choose their own activities, work at their own pace, and repeat these activities for as long as they wish.
They develop confidence, independence, and a sense of order.
The Primary Program admits children from 2 through 6 years of age, and all age groups are mixed in the classroom.
For the youngest children, the program is three years in duration.
Parents are strongly urged to allow their children to complete the three-year cycle through their kindergarten year in order to receive maximum benefit from the Montessori Experience.

We started our little one at MSOW when he was under two and have had a great experience! The environment is nurturing, supportive, and caring. The teachers truly love the kids and the small class sizes are great for attention, with sound adherence to Montessori development principles. We got useful updates and photos throughout the day through an app together with an end-of-day summary. It is amazing to see his growth and development. We highly recommend this amazing preschool!

MSOW is an amazing school! We just enrolled our little one in January and I can't begin to tell you how knowledgeable he is now. The routine has also helped developed him into being responsible. It's truly hard to explain here, but I'll just say that you will be very impressed by the 2nd week of enrollment. I give the school 10 stars, actually!

I just enrolled my son and I have to admit that I was a bit apprehensive about doing so during covid. However, I was impressed by all the health and safety measures taken and the in-depth school policy.! The school looks great and teachers are awesome. Definitely a great school for the little ones. I highly recommend The Montessori School of Washington to anyone in a heartbeat!
