Mount Carmel Academy is a private, all-girls Catholic high school for grades 8-12 in the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
It is conducted by the Sisters of Our Lady of Mount Carmel, who have educated young ladies in New Orleans since 1833.
The atmosphere of the school and the individual attention given to each student encourage and foster emotional maturity and spiritual development.

  • Mount Carmel Academy inspires and fosters intellectual development through a challenging, traditional, 21st-century college preparatory curriculum infused with technology. Critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communication are part of every course.
  • Mount Carmel Academy has a complete guidance program with eight full-time counselors, a college scholarship coordinator, and a guidance secretary available to assist students in each grade level with issues related to academics, the college application process, the maturation process, and spirituality.
  • Integration of technology across the curriculum seamlessly enhances instruction and provides feedback for improved learning. The latest Web 2.0 tools promote promotes critical-thinking, collaborative problem-solving, and decision-making skills as students and teachers create, share, critique, and collaborate with one another from remote locations.
  • The Phyllis M. Taylor Maker Lab, equipped with 16 MakerBot Replicator 3D printers and an engraver/laser cutter, is a creative, hands-on space where students from all academic mediums are encouraged to collaborate, innovate, and create. From art to math to science, ideas come to life and learning is enhanced by the 21st century tools available in our Maker Lab. The goal of this STREAM lab is to foster creativity, critical thinking skills, project-based learning, and problem solving so that regardless of the tools or technology, our learners will have the conceptual skills to be successful in their work.
