The Village School

As a parent of two children who attend TVS, I have seen firsthand the incredible impact of an educational model built on trust and empowerment. At TVS, learners are given the freedom and support to truly own their learning journeys. Rather than being passive recipients of knowledge, they are active agents in their own education.Through regular goal-setting exercises, my kids have developed the invaluable skill of directing their own growth. They thoughtfully consider what they want to learn, why it matters to them, and how they plan to get there. This has ignited their inner motivation and love of learning in powerful ways. I've watched them pursue topics they are passionate about with zeal, going above and beyond requirements.Equally important, TVS gives my children ample opportunities to advocate for themselves. In learner-led conferences, they confidently articulate their strengths, areas for improvement, and what support they need to thrive. Through this process, they are building the self-awareness and communication skills that will serve them for a lifetime. They understand themselves as learners on a deep level.The magic of TVS is that, as a small school, every single child is truly known - not just by name or test scores, but as a whole person. Guides take the time to understand each learner's unique learning style, interests, and challenges. My son, who is more introverted and cautious, receives the gentle encouragement he needs to take risks. My daughter, who is highly motivated but struggles with anxiety, gets the reassurance and coping strategies to build her confidence. No one falls through the cracks.Children who need more academic challenge are continuously given new opportunities to stretch themselves and explore advanced concepts. Those who are struggling in certain areas get compassionate, targeted support to fill in gaps and build essential skills. The level of differentiation is remarkable.Perhaps what I value most is seeing my children develop a sense of agency and ownership over their education that will empower them for the rest of their lives. They are building the self-knowledge to understand how they learn best. They are proactively driving their own growth, with guides as facilitators. TVS's trust in learners is transformational.For any parent looking for a school where your child will be known, valued, challenged and supported as an individual, I cannot recommend TVS highly enough. It has been a joy to watch my children thrive and grow in this special community built on trust and empowerment. This is what education should look like.

This is a small learner driven school that not only engages our daughter with project based learning but pushes her to use her own resources to problem solve her educational and social issues. She is learning how to navigate school and the world by gaining confidence through the Action program and the unique structure of the classroom studio and learning environment.

The Village School focuses on the whole child and promotes a growth mindset, facilitating a love of learning, independence, grit, and an academic approach for a 21st century world. I saw incredible growth in my child after just one session and with a year under her belt she grown emotionally, academically, and socially. I 100% recommend this school.

Our 7 and 9 year old kids are thriving at The Village School. The student-directed learning environment is what really drew us to the school. They have ample opportunity to explore the things that matter to them, and they can work at a pace that is right for them. They are happy, they look forward to school and they love to learn. The guides are patient, curious and supportive of the heroes. There are a lot of field trips and opportunities for the heroes to get out and explore, there are music, art and physical education programs, and ample time for them to just play and be kids. We couldn't be more pleased with the decision to entrust our learners to The Village School.

As a former teacher, I always had a dream of what I wanted education to look for my own children. Lauren and Christian have made that dream come true and exceeded any expectations I had. I am so excited to have my daughter in the Spark studio!

Our daughter has thrived at The Village School. She has learned a new level of independence, personal responsibility, and dedication. We have seen her confidence grow and she is excited for every new day.
