School Notes

  • Why PreK through Grade 9? Fact-based research and evidence confirm what we`ve believed all along: Pre-K-9 is the independent school model that best supports the emotional, developmental, and academic needs of younger students before they begin high school. The Pre K through ninth grade education program at TPS provides the best atmosphere to prepare children for their future.
  • We do not have a high school because we want to preserve an environment in which the needs of younger students remain paramount. In schools that extend through to the twelfth grade, school culture tends to orbit around the high school. In a Pre-K-9 model, our seventh, eighth, and ninth grade students have more opportunities to lead, and our younger students have more developmentally-appropriate role models.
  • As they develop as leaders, our oldest students are open to understanding the demands and responsibilities of leadership. They learn how to become leaders on the field, in the classrooms, and onstage. At the same time, they are still part of a community that includes Preschoolers, which keeps them from growing up too fast while allowing them to serve as role models to the younger children.

Considering how many hours children spend at school each week, we knew that beyond strong academics and meaningful diversity, we needed a school that mirrors the values we teach at home. Thankfully, we found TPS, the area's best-kept secret! Don't miss the opportunity to learn more about Tuxedo Park School. The teachers are wonderful, the students are happy, the administrators are leaders, and the community is caring. I am relieved to know that in a world of uncertainty, I can count on my children growing up in a school actively living its motto - "Be Kind, Be Fair, Be Responsible".

Tuxedo Park School is really one of a kind. I`ve worked in other school settings and the connection that students form with their teachers and administrators at TPS is unmatched. Students are seen, known, appreciated, and accepted for who they are and this really brings out the best in them. Because of this, they feel comfortable taking risks, pushing themselves outside of their comfort zones, and challenging themselves both socially and academically. They also really embody the school`s core values: Be Kind. Be Fair. Be Responsible.
