At The Village School of Louisville (VSL), our educational approach is deeply inspired by the globally respected Finnish Model of Education-a system rooted in trust, equity, joy, and the belief that children learn best when they are supported as whole people. The Village School of Louisville (VSL) is dedicated to: Offering Joyful Education VSL provides a joyful, equitable learning environment inspired by the Finnish model. This approach exposes students to Louisville's diverse resources and activities, demonstrates the relevance of classroom information to their communities and daily lives, teaches skills and awareness necessary to act justly and with equity, allows ample time for play at all ages, and prepares them to live and work in the global community with compassion, knowledge, critical thinking, and cultural understanding. Teaching Equity VSL educates children to recognize systemic barriers to equitable participation of women and minorities in various spheres by providing an inclusive education that incorporates perspectives of marginalized peoples. The school prepares students to work towards a more equitable world and equips them with tools to succeed in a society where gender and racial equity are achieved.
