School Notes
- Pace Academy is modeled after Acton Academy, which was founded in 2009 in Austin, Texas. As part of a global network of 250+ affiliates, we are changing the education landscape to "turn learning right side up." Our learning model prioritizes 21st Century Skills of critical thinking, collaboration, conflict resolution, problem-solving, and decision-making through rigorous academics and real-world projects.
- Learner Led: Students at Pace Academy play an active role in creating the systems that govern their learning experience, from setting their own rules (Contracts) to deciding how best to spend their time. Age-appropriate freedoms, within reason, are earned by achieving goals they have set for themselves. Students also learn how to track their own progress, navigate relationships and reflect on their experiences.
- Experiential Learning: Our program focuses on empowering students to learn and practice 21st Century skills: leadership, collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving. This unique learning design helps young people take ownership of their education and peer relationships by working in multi-age studios that offer dynamic opportunities for learning and growth.
- Focus on Character: We believe fostering character in young people contributes to their future success and happiness. Pace Academy provides a learning environment that embraces high standards and encourages students to take responsibility for their learning, choices, and, ultimately, their future. We believe responsible behavior comprises six essential elements: respect, kindness, fairness, accountability, and courage.
