Sioux Falls Lutheran School

At Sioux Falls Lutheran School, our mission is to develop capable, Christian servant-leaders in a complex world: World Ready, Faith Secure. We value children, faith, family, community, and the integration of outstanding academic and scriptural training. We are committed to partnering with parents and the church to raise lifelong learners who use their gifts and the fruits of the Spirit, in faith, to touch a troubled world with God's grace.
Together, we create lifelong learners by: transforming natural childhood curiosity into a passion for learning, thinking critically and working collaboratively within the classroom, exercising problem-solving and decision-making skills when challenges arise, fostering relationships across grade levels through teacher-led family group activities, and faithfully and lovingly serving God and our neighbors.

We are alumni parents of two Sioux Falls Lutheran School students. Our son and daughter were 8th grade graduates from SFLS in 2005 and 2008, respectively-years before the amazing new school building was opened. From their kindergarten years through 8th grade, SFLS was their second home. An amazing place, a safe place, a wonderful place to be surrounded by the love of Jesus shared daily by each and every teacher and staff member. We loved the teachers and the ways in which they identified needs and strengths that helped our kids work to their greatest potential. The extra activity options, like music and sports, helped our kids find ways in which to excel outside the classroom and made them better high school students. The convenience of music lessons during the school day was an amazing timesaver. The variety of opportunities for parents to engage were numerous, and we still treasure the friendships we made through those connections. We often tell others that, even though we didn't know it at the time, having our son and daughter attend SFLS was the best decision we ever made for them. And we give all the credit to God, working through the dedicated SFLS team, for providing us with this blessing--SFLS. We are beyond grateful for the amazing teams, past and present, that give everything for each and every child so they leave this amazing place knowing that "Jesus loves them" and that He always will. These years since 2008 have given us many opportunities to stay connected to Sioux Falls Lutheran School, and we are beyond amazed at the incredible spaces and the many changes that have occurred in this ministry that continues to make an eternal difference in many lives.-Terry and JoAnn Hirsch

There are so many reasons to say yes to SFLS! Academics, music, theater, sports, Christian education, STEAM, and more! I especially appreciate how our teachers and helpers in the hallways help to shape the whole child: mind, body, and spirit. Not only are my kids getting great hands-on education with small class sizes, but they are also learning to manage conflict as peacemakers. My children have grown up in this loving community starting with the Kids Day Out program for 2 year olds and they are continuing to build their solid foundation in 3rd grade and Fantastic Fives. They walk confidently down the hallways and see middle schoolers and high schoolers throughout their day have positive interactions and get excited about growing up to do the "big kid stuff".

What an amazing school and staff! We can't say enough good things about SFLS! Staff know who everyone is and administration is always there to greet everyone in the morning and afternoon. It is like walking into our second family. We have kids in elementary and infant/early childhood and each teacher with whom our kids have interacted has helped them grow spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. We have met so many amazing people and have created friendships that will spill into other parts of our lives here. The music program is amazing and the amount that our kids sing and incorporate music to other aspects of learning is incredible. And being in kindergarten and already getting Spanish lessons is great! Our kids love going to sporting events as they know a lot of the high schoolers and love being able to watch them play. Being able to have our kids interact and the high schoolers say hi and give them high fives is incredible to see the bonds they are making with kids of every age at the school.

Our family has been at Sioux Falls Lutheran School for 5 years now, and it has been a wonderful blessing. Because the school is rooted in the local LCMS churches, we feel confident in the Biblical teachings and love that our kids see their teachers, pastors, and friends not just at school but also at church on Sundays. I truly believe the Holy Spirit drew us to SFLS. My husband and I never once considered sending our children to a private school as we assumed we could not afford it. But after one day of our first child attending a public school, the Holy Spirit stirred our souls and made it clear that we should dedicate our children's schooling to the Lord. We talked to the school's administration and they were so welcoming and explained all the ways that we could receive help with the tuition to make it affordable for our family. The Lord makes a way! Our kids come home singing wonderful songs of faith and Jesus' love, they tell of all the cool things they learn about regarding God's awesome creations, and they learn to deal with the difficulties of this world in a loving, Biblical way. We love seeing the school grow with new families and teachers, and what an absolute blessing that our youngest elementary student will see their older middle school and high school siblings in the same hallways in the coming years! So many parents are willing to share their gifts and talents with their children that it is unlike any experience you will find elsewhere; it is a true family in Christ.
