School Notes

  • Striar Hebrew Academy of Sharon (SHAS) is a coeducational, Modern Orthodox Jewish day school in South-area Boston, teaching a dual Judaic and general studies curriculum to students in Nursery through Grade 5.
  • To prepare our students for an ever-changing, fast-paced world, the Striar education combines individualized teaching, small group collaboration, and self-paced digital learning to promote independence and self-motivation among students. Our guiding principle is the concept of Torah u'Mada (combining Torah and worldly knowledge), and we value the importance of showing respect for each other and embracing individual differences.
  • Striar Hebrew Academy students receive caring, individualized attention, made possible by our low student-to-faculty ratio and our compassionate teachers, within the backdrop of Jewish values, community-building and understanding the latest thinking in child development.
  • School Motto: Building community and bettering the future, one child at a time
  • Striar Hebrew Academy provides its students with an open and stimulating environment in which they are able to develop an exceptional foundation in both general and Judaic studies. Our school's curriculum enables our children to develop a love of learning by acquiring skills in critical thought and multi-modal problem-solving that they are able to apply to all areas of study. Our faculty and administration recognize the unique abilities and talents of each student and work with every child utilizing a broad spectrum of teaching tools in order to meet a developmentally appropriate range of cognitive profiles and learning styles. We encourage our students to realize their potential in an atmosphere that is dedicated to personal growth and academic excellence in all the facets of their experience at Striar Hebrew Academy. Families choose SHAS because they seek a challenging and supportive environment where they can be partners in their child's education. Our integrated curriculum leads students to become confident, critical thinkers with a passion for learning. They emerge as young Jews with a well-defined sense of their own Jewish identity and values.
