  • Freeman Academy serves students from 1st through 12th grade and offers a boarding program for students in 7th through 12th grade on it's beautiful and safe rurally-located campus within the town of Freeman (population: 1,300)
  • Freeman Academy is located in Freeman, SD about 1 hour from the Sioux Falls Regional airport (Sioux Falls population: nearly 220,000).
  • The Freeman Academy campus contains a dorm, dining hall, multi-story academic facility, a historic music hall, 2 gymnasiums, weight lifting facility, soccer field, arboretum, and museum
  • Students who are admitted have access to play on middle school and high school athletic teams and to participate in vocal and instrumental music instruction and performances. Students also have opportunity to try out for dramatic performances and musicals
  • Eduation began on the Freeman Academy campus in 1903
  • The school operates with a Mennonite religious affiliation, but welcomes students from a variety of denominations and backgrounds
  • Annual tuition for an international boarding student was $22,180 for the 2024-2025 school year
  • Annual room and board was $9,450 for the 2024-2025 school year
  • All international boarding students are required to carry medical insurance purchased through a recommended insuraace provide

The smaller student body offers an opportunity for students to build healthy friendships and to be involved in our school community developing their leadership skills, growing their faith, and exploring their God-given gifts in the fine arts and athletics.

Our children are challenged academically & spiritually; the all-around excellence of the fine arts programs are comparable to any Class AA school in SD. Four years ago, after we open enrolled our oldest as a 9th grader, she said, "Mom, this is probably the first time I can say that I LOVE school." Our two younger children now attend FA as well and are thriving.
