School Notes

  • INDEPENDENT THINKERS
Hutchison founder Mary Grimes Hutchison was ahead of her time when in 1902 she envisioned a school to develop young women who are resilient, independent thinkers. In a supportive, all-girl learning environment, girls are encouraged to speak their minds, whether they are leading a parent conference or engaging in a lively discourse on world events. Beyond school walls, Hutchison girls are defined by their poise and confidence.
  •  FORWARD-THINKING FACULTY
We understand how girls learn and what helps them succeed. We set high standards for what each girl should gain from her time at Hutchison. Our exceptional teachers make it happen. Hutchison`s forward-thinking academic culture thrives on teachers who constantly challenge themselves to grow professionally and evaluate emerging trends in their fields. Visiting Scholars enhance the classroom experience for students and teachers alike.
  •  A SENSE OF PURPOSE
Hutchison prepares girls for lives of integrity and character. We are founded on Christian principles and values, and we welcome students of all faiths and teach appreciation for each other's differences. Regular chapel meetings, planned by the girls with faculty supervision, are a chance to reflect on common values and grow from sharing different perspectives. Our unique leadership development program in Upper School weaves together internships, service learning, and philanthropic literacy opportunities to help girls develop and implement sustainable solutions for pressing societal issues.
