School Notes

  • Academics at Westminster Academylook different because they are different! For 30 years WestminsterAcademy has served Memphis as the only JK-12th grade classical Christian school. Our faculty and parents create a unique community with one goal: to graduate well-prepared studentswho have a love for learning and the Lord. We incorporate the Christian faith into our entire curriculum, giving our students the tools to learn and think for themselves. Westrive to operate as an extension of the family under the biblical principle that education is primarily the responsibility of the family. Weintentionally plan with the end in mind, so that our very youngest are already learning the skills to be a successful adult. We believe that our youngest children thrive when they have the opportunity to interact with adults and peers. At Westminster, this includes interaction between our Upper and Grammar School students. Through various events like the Olympics, Secret Santa, and Reading Buddies, our older students will have the chance to be mentors for your child. This mutually beneficial relationship results in our Upper School students learning the qualities of leadership while your child will develop the social skills necessary to grow into an independent and thoughtful adult.

The classical Christian curriculum at this school is so beautiful and well-executed. I have students in both the lower and upper grades, and I can honestly say they are all known and loved so well by their teachers and peers. I have also already been so encouraged by the new head of the school and his vision for the students and the future of the school. I would highly recommend touring the school to see if it could be a blessing to your family!

While this school is probably harder than some other schools nearby, I feel so welcome and accepted in this community. My friends are amazing and my teachers also really know me. They set an example for me in how they live their faith, and they also point us to God in every subject. The House system is so much fun and really helps to connect the students.

I have four children at this school, spanning in age from the youngest grades to high school. The way the teachers know & love their students and teach their subjects is beautiful. We came to the school for the classical Christian curriculum, but we've stayed at the school because of the community of parents and students. When you have to walk through hard things, they will show up to support you. When you have joys, they will celebrate with you. It has been such a blessing to our family!

The community at this school is beyond compare! The families come alongside one another to walk through the joys and sorrows of life, and they partner in parenting. The teachers love the students extremely well, and they do an excellent job of speaking to the heart of a child if discipline is needed. The curriculum is among the best in the city without a doubt.
