My kids both started in lower school at Mackintosh Academy. We were in the heart of 2020. While other kids had remote learning Mack got creative, used the 23 acre campus and took learning outside... ALL YEAR! This was just the first of MANY times I witnessed Mack staff and faculty get creative. The school embodies IB thinking. Both my kids have graduated and are now in High School. They are thriving! They advocate for their needs, they can talk to the adults with respect, they have taken the skills they learned at Mack for executive functioning and apply them to not just school but at home. When kids were learning to dislike school, mine were loving school. Mack lower school is magical but Mack Middle School is the special sauce! The transition into HS was smooth. They were allowed to be be kids, to be thinkers, to be themselves in a safe environment. They went in HS knowing who they are as best as any 14 year can! Mack is my heart. Even now we support the school for future generations!

When I say that Mack has been life-changing and life-saving for our children, I am not exaggerating. I have 2E kids who really struggled in public school. The teachers at Mack were able to understand my children's needs in a way that others have never done before. The small class sizes and sensitivity to sensory input has allowed my children to be present and grow in their education. My son has language processing disorder and started third grade at Mack unable to read despite being ahead in math. By the end of the first semester he was reading chapter books, and by the end of the year he was at grade level. I cannot say enough good things about the Orchard Center for kids who struggle to read. We will be forever grateful that we found this school.

Mackintosh Academy has been a breath of fresh air for our family! Our 2e kid is thriving because adults listen deeply and support their self-advocacy, and our profoundly gifted kid has found just the right mix of academic challenge and growth mindset. We are so grateful that Mack is a community where kids can be their authentic selves and take ownership for their learning!

I am so thankful for Mack. There is a spirit of community and collaboration amongst the staff, parents, and kids that's wonderful to experience. The kids get lots of small groups and one-on-one instruction and are given the opportunity to explore their true potential. The teachers are motivated, dedicated, and caring. The administrators and other staff keep their spirits high and move the whole community forward. My son is very happy here and can't wait for school to start back up again.
