Our mission is to provide a multicultural environment that encourages and entices the child to become self-motivated to exhibit their own greatest learning potential while under the guidance of trained Montessori teachers.
Montessori East employs Maria Montessori`s holistic approach to education to foster joy, intelligence, independence, and self-confidence in children.
With personal respect for each child and a sincere dedication to his or her potential our AMI (Association Montessori Internationale) lead guides help establish a life-long love of learning and a sense of belonging in community.

School Notes

  • Montessori East's program is dramatically different than traditional systems of education. Each child learns at his own pace under the careful guidance of a trained Montessori teacher who consistently tracks progress and helps him build on his own personal best in each subject. The child is encouraged to expand his current understanding and skills rather than to compete/compare against others to determine his level of success. This enables many children to far exceed traditional state standards and produces an atmosphere of cooperation, peace, confidence and personal excellence.Mentoring other children, and being mentored by them, is also key to the success of our students. The Montessori method of education flows naturally with child development. Children are allowed to learn alone or in small groups and are encouraged to help one another according to their own personal skills and strengths. They are also encouraged to ask for help from other children. This empowerment of their peers and of themselves creates a lasting confidence and a certainty of competence that would be impossible for an adult to impart. Of all the gifts of Montessori, self-trust and proactive empowerment may be the greatest, as it is life-long when it is established in a child at an early age.  Other important aspects of Montessori East's program include freedom of choice in activity and timing, the freedom to move around the classroom as opposed to being confined to a desk or table, peaceful problem-solving, social skills, a sense of belonging in a community, responsibility and a life-long love of learning.
