School Notes

  • We firmly believe that gifted kids learn and grow best when supported in an environment specifically for highly capable students and surrounded by peers that also have an incredible thirst for learning. Small class sizes allow our teachers, who have extensive training and experience in education for highly capable learners, to provide differentiated instruction to develop each child's individual talents and strengths. Although the instruction at Seabury is individualized and each student is encouraged to grow their own strengths and talents, students thrive when they are able to learn together with other intellectually advanced peers. We have found that being able to socialize in an environment they can be their true selves allows students to grow into confident individuals and leaders in their communities.

Seabury is one of the very few schools in our area that can accommodate children with unique gifts and talents. Small class sizes, individualized approach to education, a wide variety of activities and learning methods, and most importantly, strict safety policies during a pandemic made this school our first choice for Pre-K and Kindergarten years and we've been very happy with the Seabury School. There are many reasons why we are glad to have our child at Seabury, some of the most important ones for us are: - Opportunity to socialize in a safe environment, where the school staff is able to teach kindness and compassion. - Teachers recognize gifts and areas of improvement for our children and nourish those in a way that gives the child a solid baseline and ability to grow in their gifts. - School staff is very good at communicating issues and praises promptly.- A wide variety of arts, crafts, and other making activities on a regular basis. Pandemic brought on many additional challenges, but the leadership at this school has been on top of making necessary adjustments to continue providing high-quality education even to the youngest of kids.

Our child has been in Seabury since Pre-k. It was obvious to us since we first visited the school that this place was different.... and a place for our child could thrive. We had tried a Montessori school, but he grew bored with it. Seabury challenges him not just intellectually, but also helps him immensely with developing his emotional intelligence, and allows him to explore his strong sense of social responsibility. This school has small class sizes, carefully planned class lessons, and very caring teachers and staff. This school did a phenomenal job of pivoting to virtual and hybrid schooling during the pandemic, and I do not feel my child missed out on much of anything. I am very happy that we have our son here.

We are grateful every day that we found Seabury for our daughter. Seabury really focuses on the whole child and the social-emotional learning that goes on there is incredible. The second-grade teacher is phenomenal and she really "gets" our daughter and what makes her tick. She is great at finding ways to get the students to feel connected to what they`re learning, while actually enjoying it. The school is great with their communication and everyone we`ve interacted with is fantastic.

Seabury is lovely! They tend to the social-emotional needs of our gifted students while they tend to the individualized gifted learning. Gifted education is vastly different than neurotypical learning, and Seabury gets that. We now have an "engaged and excited to attend school", learner for the first time. Thank you Seabury!

Kids want to learn. Seabury has a stellar academic program that engages students with a variety of learning styles and gives them the skills to be successful in high school, college, and beyond. The wonderful teachers facilitate a balance of pro-social skills while teaching the students how they best learn and take ownership of it. They give students tools they can use to problem solve, and facilitate the desire to continue learning through school, careers, and the rest of their lives.
