The Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center (SEEC) is an independent 501(c)(3) early childhood school with classrooms inside the National Museum of Natural History and the National Museum of American History on the National Mall. Founded in 1988, SEEC serves children from 8 weeks old through five years with a full-day, year-round program in which the museums serve as an everyday classroom. SEEC is licensed by the DC Office of the State Superintendent of Education. Tours are available by appointment, and a part-time toddler program, summer camps, and family workshops are also offered.

The mission of the Smithsonian Early Enrichment Center is two-fold: to provide a high-quality educational program for young children, and to advance educational opportunities for all children by sharing SEEC's expertise on a national level, thereby furthering the education mandate of the Smithsonian Institution. Our school offers a unique learning setting where we embrace curiosity and inquiry, where wonder is an important part of every day, and where children can develop a positive sense of self. At SEEC we share our learning approach beyond our school, bridging the early childhood and communities, where educators can expand their practice and embrace young learners in informal settings.
