School Notes

  • School Motto: Love. Learn. Lead
  • School Mascot: Maverick
  • St. James Lutheran School offers preschool through 8th grade students innovative and engaging coursework that shapes their intellectual, spiritual, and physical well-roundedness, leading 95% of graduating 8th graders into placement in their first choice high school. We proudly serve Chicago's Lincoln Park, Old town, Bucktown, and Wicker Park neighborhoods and the surrounding community. We have five early childhood classrooms, an elementary division consisting of grades 1-4 and a departmentalized middle school. With a middle school sized gym on the fourth floor and a student library with over 2,000 volumes, St. James is the best value for an education with a Christian worldview in the city of Chicago.
  • At St. James, we believe learning is most effective when students find value in what they are doing. Although they may not at first fully understand the long-range importance of their learning, children are initially attracted to be involved, to be invested and to inquire about some stimulus. This is how God made us to be.Our faculty recognize this need in their students to be involved in their learning and invest themselves into the inquiry and problem solving process. We seek to develop an atmosphere for learning, a culture where this happens naturally, every day in every aspect of the students' learning process.
