St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory located at 5116 Magazine
Street located in uptown New Orleans, is a college preparatory
school offering a quality Catholic education to female students in
grades 8th-12th.
St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School, formerly known as
Xavier University Preparatory School."The Prep" as the school
is affectionately known was established in 1915 and previously
under the auspices of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament for 98
years. Drexel Prep has since been adopted by a non-profit formed
with a group of Xavier Prep Alumni.
Drexel Prep offers core curriculum courses, honors, and
advanced placement courses. The school has fully integrated
technology into its instructional program. Drexel Prep has an
active extracurricular program. The Arts Department offers a
variety of programs such asart, band, chorus, theatre,
and dance classes.
Drexel Prep provides students participate in dual enrollment at
Xavier University, Dillard University and Delgado. Eligible seniors
can earn up to 12 hours of college credit by the end of their
senior year. The faculty, staff and students participate in regular
liturgies, retreats, community service events and activities.
St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory School is proud of its legacy
which began with the mission and service of our foundress, St.
Katharine Drexel, the first American-born Roman Catholic canonized
as a saint.
The Board of Directors, Administration, Alumni Faculty, and
Staff are dedicated to upholding the rich history and the
"Tradition of Excellence" to ensure the "Drexel Dream
continues--
St. Katharine Drexel Preparatory is a great school where your daughter will be nurtured and her education is tailored based on what she needs to achieve her goals. One of our seniors was just recently awarded a Posse Scholarship and has a full-tuition scholarship to the University of Notre Dame. In addition, she is receiving pre-collegiate support and collegiate support to help her navigate college. SKDP helps you define who you are and helps you become the best you. I am a graduate and I teach four computer science courses at SKDP in conjunction with Microsoft Teals and Carnegie Mellon University. Two of the courses are Advanced Placement.
