School Notes

How is Classical Christian Education different?
  • Time-tested methods that have been staples in Western culture and the Church since the second century.
  • Students cultivate an interest in first principles and ultimate purposes.
  • A tone of inspiration, fulfillment, joy, and respect are visible throughout.
  • An emphasis on cultivating wisdom rather than just teaching facts and skills.
Through intellectual and spiritual integration, students develop a thoroughly Christian worldview.  We take a more integrated approach to literature, art, history, science, math, and theology with the latent philosophies of each subject brought to the forefront.  Rather than confining Christianity to a Bible class, we view all subjects through the lens of Scripture.  Cornerstone Academy's curriculum prepares students for AP and honors classes when they reach upper grades.

Our family is new to Cornerstone Academy this year, and I'm so glad we found it! Our oldest daughter is in Pre-K and has learned more in the last 5 months than we could have ever expected. The classical Christian curriculum is fantastic and we can't say enough about the teachers and staff. Parents are kept in the loop in every aspect, which is greatly appreciated. Each Sunday we receive a newsletter from the school keeping us up to date on what is happening and our daughter's teacher emails us weekly with the week's lesson plan. We are excited to enroll our middle child in Preschool next year as well! If you are looking for a school that greatly values your child's education as well as their growth in the Christian faith, I highly suggest you check out Cornerstone Academy!

Cornerstone Academy has been a tremendous blessing to our family. We have just started our 8th year at the school. All 3 of our children are absolutely thriving and truly love learning. The staff is amazing and clearly invested in both the student's education and character development. The community of families is welcoming and supportive. I highly recommend Cornerstone to anyone looking for a Christ centered educational experience for their children.

This is our third year at Cornerstone, and we love it. The academics are solid; the teachers are amazing, and the culture of Christian mentorship is one of the best we've seen. One of my favorite examples of the kind of school this is is this: the administration (for obvious reasons) does not allow snowball fights, but every year at the first big snow (and often even after that) the Dean of Students goes outside and allows all the kids to throw snowballs at him! It is a creative compromise that considers the safety of students but also the joy of a snowball fight on the playground. Paper airplane club is another great example: all the kids got interested in paper airplanes, so one of the teachers started a recess club.In addition to the "fun stuff," I love the emphasis on developmentally appropriate academics. Classical education often gets more of a teacher-centered rap, but the model, itself, is student-centered in that it is deliberately designed to be in line with the abilities of children at different ages. My son loves the memorization, especially the longer poems. The emphasis on Spelling Bee and Speech Meet is also really fun, to see something from another age done so well and to see all the kids participate with such solemnity! Finally, I love that the classes are divided by ability for math and reading, and such. If your child is ahead of their grade, they go up a level. A little behind, that's okay, they can join a group more their pace.

We found Cornerstone Academy last year and I couldn't be happier for my son's educational experience. I love that we seek beauty and truth by aquireing wisdom & virtues. The staff all impress me daily & it is so wonderfully enriching for our family to be part of this school. I hope to see him complete his academics here. I wish I could go too!!

Cornerstone has been an amazing place for my kids to get a private education for a reasonable price. They are thriving and loving what they are learning. I love that the curriculum is scaffolded and that they memorize facts through chants and songs. They know way more than I did at their age. The phonics and grammar programs alone are worth it!

Solid Christian values, strong curriculum, caring teachers, great community. The structure of the school allows for more personalized instruction and students learn additional subjects like Spanish, Latin and art.

My kids have attended Cornerstone Academy Christian private school for three years now. I really like the classic education with a faith-based curriculum. All the core math, science, and reading and more. Even if I lived 15-20 minutes away I would still drive my kids there each day. They just moved into a larger building and this year they have music and sports too. The best teachers and the students are of similar character, which means I know they will be a good influence.

We began at Cornerstone in 2012 when my eldest son started preschool here. I had no idea what "classical education" meant and immediately began researching it. I was blown away with what I found and am beyond blessed we found this little school! Now all three of my boys attend and I am so impressed with what they can do and the level of critical thinking they exhibit at such a young age. We are treated like a family here and my children are growing both spiritually and academically in ways that are so needed in today's world.

Our family has been at Cornerstone Academy since it first opened in 2007. During that time, we''ve seen our children grow in knowledge beyond what their friends from public and other private schools are experiencing. But beyond that, the The Christian aspect of our experience has blown us away...not only are they taught a Christian worldview, their spiritual growth is cared for on a daily basis here! I feel like our parenting is actually more effective because we''re on the same page with the school, and we back each other up. What a blessing it has been to be here.
