Montessori Manor

Montessori Manor is dedicated to creating a Montessori environment where our students, ages 2-12, can explore and grow using Montessori materials and lessons, guided by the Montessori Curriculum followed in each classroom community, in line with their individual development.
We develop each classroom so that materials are made accessible to each student, promoting independence and allowing students to select interesting materials, therefore developing their intrinsic motivation to learn and succeed.

School Notes

  • Our classroom Guides ensure that each child works with various age- and ability-appropriate materials that offer a broad understanding of Montessori core subjects. Children practice general freedom of movement in the classroom when safe and not impeding another child's ability to work. Our positive learning environments build on each student's ability to be seen and heard as a respected member of our community. Students may work together or independently to complete tasks in our mixed-age classrooms, with older children often educating younger students on approaching new work and classroom conduct. Each member of our community brings unique experiences, qualities, and perspectives to contribute to and enrich our program. This includes sharing different cultures through teacher demonstration and parent involvement when applicable, often sharing music, common practices, and celebrations of other cultures with students. Spanish and American Sign Language are also practiced weekly in primary and elementary classrooms, giving students a broader understanding of other common languages. This diversity of interests, talents, and cultures provides a variety of ways to contribute to the community and to learn outside of our own experiences. We use the Montessori approach to discipline, which includes Grace and Courtesy, conflict resolution, respectful limit setting, and peace education. Working as a cooperative, the parents, educational staff, and administration of the school encourage excellence through exploration and investigation, guided by the Montessori philosophy, developing a sense of independence, self-discipline, and confidence within each child.
