RMA test scores and curriculum may easily be the most advanced in our area.
We provide an educational community that offers students and their families a fun, successful educational environment dedicated to AMI principles of Montessori education. RMA accepts both remedial and advanced students.
We challenge students with diverse in-depth studies in science and fine arts, while providing opportunities for community service.
Parent education and interaction are greatly encouraged as we strive to create the best childhood experience for each of our students. While we do not "teach to the test," our students scored a minimum of 2 grade levels above their public school peers, with many scoring at middle and high school level.
RMA students are also educated in professional and social skills to prepare them to funcion in any high school or college program.
Montessori education begins as early as 2.5 and parents are encouraged to start as early as possible to benefit from our advanced curriculum.
Our Middle School is also an excellent place for home-school students to enter into a classroom community.
Part of our mission is to raise educational expectations for parents and improve education in our community, both public and private.
We will happily provide a speaker on child development or education for your civic, parent or church group that would be interested in discovering how we can improve schools for all children.

School Notes

  • Despite NO TESTING OR GRADING throughout the year: On High School placement tests, RMA Middle School students tested at a college level and RMA Elementary students continue to preform several grade levels above traditional classes and some at high school level.
  • RMA students not only receive advanced academic training, but they also receive professional development and social skills training to allow them to function in a variety of educational and professional environments.
  • RMA students are not "pushed forward" academically, which is a problem in traditional education, instead our program engages their natural interests to propel them forward as they enjoy learning.
  • Our students enjoy the benefit of exposure to the Atlanta Opera, Atlanta Symphony, Shakespeare Theatre, High Museum, Michael C. Carlos Museum @ Emory and more...
  • Along with high expectations for academic performance, RMA has high standards for behavior. As a community school we teach children to communicate and resolve problems in a respectful, positive manner.

I`m a former student that attended from the age of 4-15 and am aiscurrently about to be 21. I went through their full program and to this day (actually this week), I still talk about how much I LOVED my time here. I haven`t been able to visit often, but it`s one of those places that just makes you feel very at home whether you`ve been there for years or a few months. Being here made me into a person I didn`t realize the school had shaped me to be. The environment was SO nurturing for me ps I along with my classmates were able to fully be our authentic selves. Because of that bullying was zero or close to none. If there was it was very mild and because the adults treat the students with such respect at all times the students almost ALWAYS accepted the reprimanding well and stopped which was something I didn`t see often in some of my years of high school. The thing is the students didn`t stop because the teacher told them to, starting in the primary classrooms they facilitate conflict resolution with what I had at the time was called a peace flower and the students handed it back and forth to each other so they could speak and the other student would decide if they accepted the apology (you had to say what you did, why you`re sorry, and what you could do to make things better/agree to stop). If the apology was accepted (most of the time it was), but sometimes the kids decided they needed more space and did aitagain at another time. Children as young as they can budget into arguments and not having a voice raised at me to be quiet or behave, but rather being taught how to resolve my issues, has led to bmebeing comfortable with conflict resolution which I believe to be a valuable skill. I think this school is so essential for young people because you gain so many leadership skills and have athefreedom to enact that leadership at ANY given moment. Interested in a topic and want to research it with a support system? The teachers will HAPPILY assist anyone on their private research because it`s honestly hard for young people to know what resources to access and how to use them. This in particular has helped me immensely in university because what is university and grad school if not pursuing a passion? From the young age of 6, I had my curiosity cherished and nurtured and I still remember all the little projects I was interested in and got help with. My public speaking skills were being developed beginning in 1st grade, my classmates and I held multiple fundraisers to support countries struck by natural disasters, we planned our field trips, and learned accounting skills running our own business that I`m going over in my college university class. I could go on and on about how dear this school was to me I hope it stays around until I have kids of my own and can send them here because it`s honestly the happiest place I`ve ever been in my whole life I am so happy life took my parents to this school and enrolled me in it. There`s no way any other place on earth could have made my childhood as amazing as it was. As many skills as we learned it was always fun, creative, and free. They taught me to value my progress and push myself to do as much as I wanted. When a child has the freedom to do almost anything they want in a nurturing academic environment like this; it removes the shame of failure, asking questions, speaking up for yourself, listening to others, treating people and your community with respect, and so much more. This was a whole long thing I just wrote on a whim, but I hope someone sees this and is positively affected by it :)

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Riverstone Montessori Academy. My children attended Montessori from 2.5 years through 8th grade and we could not be happier with the experience. Riverstone is an AMI school and it shows! Our daughters grew through the hands on, individualized, responsibility teaching program that Montessori offers. Now in High School, we can see that they are confident, well rounded, community minded young people looking to be engaged in their community and futures. Riverstone provided us with an amazing community for the whole family.

My son is in his 2nd year of middle school at RMA, and I am very pleased with the academic program. Montessori teaching works for us, he excels as a well rounded student. The teachers and supporting staff are nurturing making this a environment a good choice. When your child loves going to school mornings are easy.
