At Serenity Learning Center, we believe education is about unlocking potential, not just gaining skills.
We partner with families to create a supportive ecosystem where individuals at every stage develop the competence to thrive.
Holistic, family oriented Private School or Homeschool Support in a large converted home on a property with an organic food forest.
Academic foundation (Leadership, English Language Arts, Science, Math, History) is 9 mornings a month for 4 hours.
Electives on and off campus are available throughout each month! You customize your ideal schedule and teachers customize each class to best support your child's growth.
Including dual enrollment with EVIT.edu is available for older teens.
Scholarships and ESA available for all students.
No grades, no homework, students in classes with others at similar skill and maturity levels.

Nurturing growth from ages 3-18+. Our Learning Levels provide developmentally aligned learning for academic students and enriching electives for homeschoolers, focusing on building skills, agency, and connection within a supportive peer group. Picture of a student's day in Serenity's academic program Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday (3 weeks in a row/month): Students arrive to campus (most starting at 8:45 AM) with a backpack, water bottle, and healthy brainfood. Then a few minutes before class, teachers gather their students in and then start their day. Students have a blend of teacher instruction to the group, group projects, open play, independent study, and one-on-one goal support. Students get to use all a collection of learning styles from observation, listening, reading, activity/movement, and music. Some of the learning is done at tables, some outside, some in a kitchen, some on the floor. Young bodies need to keep moving and a using a variety of environments is important. Academics with Real Purpose: English Language Arts: The Art of Communication & Understanding is the study of how we connect with ourselves and others through language. It develops the power to understand others, articulate one's own inner world with clarity and nuance, and communicate effectively and respectfully. It's the foundation for shared understanding in our human ecosystem. Math: Discovering Patterns & Solving Problems is the exploration of patterns, relationships, and logical structures inherent in the universe. It cultivates the ability to think critically and analytically, approach challenges with structured problem-solving skills, understand quantity, measurement, and change in the real world, and appreciate the elegant order underlying complexity. It builds the mental architecture for clear reasoning and navigating practical life effectively. Science: Cultivating Curiosity & Understanding Our World is fueled by innate human curiosity and the desire to understand the 'how' and 'why' of the physical world around us and within us. Through observation, inquiry, experimentation, and critical analysis, learners develop a deeper appreciation for natural laws, ecological systems, the interconnectedness of everything, and the process of discovery itself. It fosters respect for evidence, adaptability in thinking, and a sense of wonder about life's intricate workings. History/Social Studies: Learning from Humanity's Journey History is far more than dates and events; it's the study of human patterns, choices, and consequences over time. By exploring diverse stories and perspectives (moving beyond simplistic narratives), learners develop empathy, understand cause and effect, recognize recurring societal dynamics, learn from past wisdom and mistakes, and gain context for responsible citizenship and contributing thoughtfully to the ongoing human story. Leadership: Developing Agency & Conscious Contribution: At Serenity, Leadership isn't about position or dominance; it's about cultivating personal agency and the capacity for conscious contribution. This involves developing self-awareness (understanding strengths, values, internal states), relational skills (communication, empathy, collaboration, boundaries), problem-solving abilities, ethical discernment, and the initiative to identify needs and take purposeful action within one's family, community, and life path. It's the practical integration of skills needed to navigate life effectively and contribute positively. Boundaries We Keep to Protect Your Students: We do not use any "educational technology". Occasionally teachers use a screen to share something visually that otherwise would be unavailable to the students, but instruction is directed by in person teachers who adjust and respond to the students as the day progresses. We do not use scripted curriculum. Coming soon: Serenity Teacher Guides and Evaluation Guides using resources from past and present Serenity Teachers/Mentors. Serenity Teachers plan lessons based on the academic and personal development of each student. We do not use grades or standardized tests. Teachers update our Learning Level Evaluation Guide (the list of skills to develop and master) for each student based on their observations during class time. Parents regularly see their child's progress on these Evaluation forms. No homework. We know that the most important work is done at home. Teachers can provide recommendations for students and parents, but this is an invitation, not mandatory. Students will often choose to continue a project or research at home, building their sense of ownership over their own progress. No Government Accreditation. Serenity is not overseen by government accreditation as this would severely inhibit the opportunities for our families to be the leading influence in the education of their children. Serenity Learning Center is a private, unaccredited institution because our accountability is to the parents and the students, only. Yes, many of our students have gone on to college level programs (many start dual enrollment programs as early as 16 yrs old.)
