Sunshine Cottage School For Deaf Children

Sunshine Cottage School for Deaf Children prepares children with hearing loss for a successful life in the hearing world by promoting early identification of hearing loss, intervention and listening, language and speech in an auditory oral educational environment.
Our doors are always open to every child with hearing loss who can benefit from our program.
We believe that all Sunshine Cottage students receive an optimal education in self-contained or mainstream class placements that include both children with hearing loss and children with typical hearing.
Sunshine Cottage has been preparing students for life in the hearing world since 1947 when Dela White started the school for her 18-month-old daughter who is profoundly deaf.
Mrs. White believed that if given the opportunity, children with hearing impairment could learn to listen, speak and live a full, self-reliant life.
Her belief has been richly rewarded through thousands of Sunshine Cottage students who have left our school to lead rewarding lives.
We invite you to explore our website and contact us with any questions you may have.
