Athena Academy is a nonprofit school founded in 2010, devoted to educating bright dyslexic and twice-exceptional (2e) children, grades 1 - 8.
Athena Academy uses a blend of teaching methods, based on the latest neuroscience and educational research, which builds on the dyslexic student's natural, picture-oriented learning style.
Athena Academy offers both a full-time in-person program as well as a full-time online program.
Athena Academy is located on a spacious 3-acre campus in Palo Alto, CA.

Athena Academy provides exceptional education for students whose primary diagnosis is dyslexia or one of its synonyms: specific learning disorder, specific reading disorder, DSM diagnostic category 315. In addition, the student must have an average or above average intelligence, and be able to learn in a focused classroom. To apply, children will need the psycho-educational test results to substantiate the diagnosis, intelligence, and behavior.

A transformative school for children with dyslexia. They are taught skillfully and learn to see their many strengths as dyslexic learners. We`ve seen our child go from such low self-confidence to feeling confident and happy and learning tons. He likes the structured mornings, more open-ended electives in the afternoon, and the lunch! And if your child likes to build and create as ours does, the maker space is wonderful.
