School Notes

  • Greenspring Montessori School promotes self-paced, collaborative learning to ignite the passion and curiosity of our students. Montessori nurtures the child`s innate desire to learn, allowing them to develop strong academics, leadership, self-discipline, independence, and responsibility traits they will carry with them through high school and beyond.
  • For over 50 years, Greenspring Montessori School has built a tradition of serving children implementing the educational philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori, an Italian physician and pioneer in child development who observed that children have an innate aptitude and desire for acquiring knowledge about their world. Montessori`s approach of "following the child" is at the root of our philosophy at Greenspring Montessori School.

Montessori education is such a gift. Our three children (ranging in age from 6 to 11) are met exactly where they are (which means that no one is ever bored OR frustrated). Every morning, they run into school, excited to learn. They are thriving academically but more importantly, they are thriving as young people learning to be in the world; they are growing independence, civility, curiosity, and empathy. Greenspring Montessori has given them a community -- a place to be challenged and a place to belong -- and we are so grateful.

My daughter has been at Green spring for over 11 years. We weathered many changes at the school, but feel that it continues to grow as a strong Montessori community. It is very small and the upper level students are sometimes at a disadvantage as a result, but I feel the skills learned in this small community will support my child beyond her academic career. Thank you.

My wife and I are new to the Montessori Method of learning. Our son is a 2yr old Toddler and has attended Greenspring's young toddler program for nearly 6 months now. I can not say enough good things about this school and the community that supports it. In just this short amount of time our son has exploded with curiosity, confidence, and compassion.. Its astounding how they pull this all out of the children at Greenspring. Its most noticeable when he interacts with kids his age that attend conventional schooling. For lack of a better expression, its night and day the difference. It seems that he has leapfrogged these children in so many ways, but most noticeable being speech, motor skills and most of all confidence and how he carries himself. They have really put him in a position to be a leader and we can not be happier. He is so excited to go learn everyday.. We cannot be happier with our decision to send him to Greenspring. On top of it all, the facilities are outstanding. Simply an inspiring place to learn and grow.
