I attended St. Paul's 1958-64. The school has improved since then. At that time it was a disciplinarian institution where, although nominally associated with The Episcopal Church, they worshipped graven images: shiny plated varsity lacrosse and tackle football trophies. I graduated first in my class academically for the 4 years of high school; I found the place stifling. It was after 1863 in the USA and I had: masters. As said, the school has improved. They no longer have a Headmaster. Now they have a Head of School. And their last Head of the Board of Trustees told me they even lose lacrosse games today! But the school was not unique at that time: Both myself and #2 were rejected by Harvard (I went to Yale, him to MIT). Harvard admitted one: a classmate with mediocre academics and stellar lacrosse who did the almost impossible: in his junior year he beat Princeton in lacrosse for Harvard for the first time in 43 years! Go, team!

My son came here for the outstanding academics. They have been all we hoped for, but the greatest and most unexpected benefits came in all the other aspects of school life - relationships with peers and teachers, pursuing new interests, and developing self-confidence. He's now a senior and we're already thinking about how much we will miss St. Paul's.

Outstanding school with excellent academics, particularly the International Baccalaureate program in the Upper School. Students form wonderful relationships with teachers, thanks to small class sizes.
