The New School has been a complete blessing for our daughter and our family. We came to TNS in 8th grade after several very difficult years that had resulted in severe anxiety for our daughter. We were almost set on homeschooling when, as a last resort, we scheduled a Zoom call for Samara with Peter, the Head of School. During that call, he convinced her to give TNS a try.Over the course of that first year, the change and growth we saw in our daughter-academically, socially, and in her overall confidence-was truly incredible. She made wonderful friends and developed genuinely supportive relationships with her teachers. Most importantly, she began to feel confident in herself again and actually looked forward to going to school.Fast forward to college applications. Anna, her college counselor, was incredible. She provided such personalized attention throughout the entire process and took so much of the stress off of us as parents. She worked closely with our daughter on her essays, applications, and college selection, and guided her through what can be an incredibly overwhelming process. Our daughter was accepted to 12 of the 14 highly competitive colleges to which she applied, which was an amazing outcome and a testament to the support and preparation she received at TNS. But honestly, the college acceptances are only part of what we are grateful for. What means the most to us is seeing the confident, capable, independent young woman our daughter has become. We feel incredibly fortunate that we found The New School when we did. It gave our daughter a place where she felt supported, understood, and encouraged to be herself-and the confidence to believe in what she could accomplish. We are so happy we were able to have this experience at TNS and would wholeheartedly recommend it to other families.
