Louise S. McGehee School was founded in 1912 as a college preparatory school for young women.
Located in the historic Garden District, McGehee currently enrolls girls from Pre-K through 12th grade.
The Louise S. McGehee School provides each girl with the foundation to realize her individual potential through a rigorous academic education guided by honor, service and leadership. In this dynamic, inclusive community, students develop lifelong learning skills through the use of critical and ethical thinking.
The program uses traditional and innovative teaching strategies to challenge students and to foster a commitment to lifelong learning.

As an all-girls school, we are uniquely positioned to show our students that it is acceptable to make a mistake-to sometimes fail when boldly attempting something new. At McGehee, out of the gaze of boys, our students can confidently develop a voice to express informed opinions, the ability to make decisions, the development of self-confidence, a capacity to organize, and the vision or ability to motivate others.
