School Notes
Mater Dei Catholic offers a Pre-School Program for three and
four-year-olds. Our commitment is to bring Jesus to the minds and
hearts of the children entrusted to us while encouraging
socialization, creativity, and experimentation. A hands-on approach
to learning is stressed.
The Mater Dei Catholic Kindergarten program integrates our
Catholic faith and the skills needed to be a successful learner.
These include: religion, math, reading readiness, writing
readiness, science, social studies, and literacy centers.
In Grades 1 through 8, Mater Dei Catholic complies with the
philosophy and guidelines of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia and
the regulations of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania regarding
content and format of curriculum. The foundation of the educational
program is based on the Rigor and Relevance Framework, which
provides a means of designing effective curriculum, measuring
individual learners' progress, and ultimately delivering a more
meaningful educational experience to the student.
Full-time Pre-K students spend a class period with the Music,
Gym, and Spanish teachers on a weekly basis. Kindergarten through
Grade 8 students spend a class period with the Music, Gym, Art,
Technology, and Spanish teachers on a weekly basis.
We offer Learning Resource Rooms for students in Grades 1-4 and
in Grades 5-8, which feature both in-class and pull-out
opportunities to help students achieve their highest potential and
receive the support they need.
Honors Math is offered to students beginning in Grade 4, and
Honors ELA is offered to students beginning in Grade 7. The purpose
of the honors programs is to support and challenge students who
show strong proficiency in these subjects.

SERVICE:By participating in activities focused on
leadership and service, students develop a social conscience,
become problem-solvers, and embark upon a lifetime commitment of
service to others.
COMMUNITY:By experiencing the spirit of community,
students are empowered with the desire to reflect Catholic values
in the local and global community.
