School Notes

  • Founded in September 1960, Stratford Academy opened its doors at the historic Overlook Mansion on Coleman Hill with 117 students and 17 faculty members. Two years later, in 1962, the academy celebrated its first graduating class of 13 students, marking the beginning of a tradition of academic excellence. Since then, Stratford has continued to graduate many more students who embody its mission proudly.Today, Stratford Academy stands as an independent, non-sectarian, college preparatory school catering to students aged three through grade twelve. Committed to nurturing students from diverse backgrounds and talents, Stratford challenges each individual to achieve their full potential. Central to its ethos is the development of ethical, responsible, and lifelong learners. At Stratford Academy, we believe in molding students to be responsible, ethical, life-long learners who are challenged, each and every day, to reach their full potential. In pursuit of this mission, we engage the whole child-mind, body, and spirit-inside and outside of the classroom. Stratford's vision for the educational experience today rests on the same values first formed in 1960: excellence, integrity, freedom, responsibility, and community while equipping our students to face a more global future.
