Tuition assistance at AFS is aimed at helping to create and maintain a diverse and well-balanced student body. Applying for tuition assistance has no bearing on whether or not a student is admitted to AFS.AFS provides more than $3.5 million annually in tuition assistance grants and scholarships to families representing a wide range of incomes, with awards ranging from several hundred to several thousand dollars. Grants are based on a family’s demonstrated need and do not need to be repaid. We look at many factors in awarding tuition assistance. As a result, more than 45% of the student body is awarded some level of tuition assistance. AFS is committed to maintaining the same level of support annually, provided you maintain your enrollment status and meet eligibility criteria. Each family must complete all application procedures annually by the renewal deadlines and continue to demonstrate comparable financial eligibility. In addition to tuition assistance, we are proud to be able to offer academically talented and motivated applicants an opportunity to attend AFS through the Honors Scholarship Program, a competitive merit scholarship program for students entering grades 5 through 11. This program has a separate selection process, and acceptance of an Honors Scholarship does not eliminate a family from consideration for tuition assistance.

  • The Abington Friends School (AFS) program is deeply relationship-centered. We make it a priority to authentically get to know each student. As a result, our students are better equipped to grow into bold, innovative thinkers who are ready to tackle challenges with creativity and assurance. Grounded in Quaker tradition, we believe that each student in our care is gifted with remarkable potential. From age 3 through grade 12, thoughtful explorations in the classroom and beyond provide students with an exceptional educational experience that fosters a deeper understanding of the world while building high-level analytical aptitude, dynamic creative thinking skills and strong, clear self-expression. With an approach grounded in developing student intellect, our academic program is rigorous and yields high levels of student engagement and learning at all levels. As one of the nation's oldest schools, for more than 325 years, we have adapted and innovated to successfully meet each successive generation's ascendant needs and opportunities. AFS students learn to navigate the complexities of the world with self-assurance and a strong sense of purpose. At AFS, we prepare our students for more.

My two very different children have been through each division of Abington Friends School and I cannot imagine a better learning environment. AFS fosters a love of learning while teaching children to think deeply about each subject. Abington Friends is ahead of the curve in providing the type of education that is critical to academic and professional success in the world today. My children have grown into mature critical thinkers, joyful learners, and advocates for themselves and those around them.
