Cedarwood Waldorf School is an independent Pre-K8 school in Portland, Oregon, offering an education shaped by how children grow and learn. Since 1997, Cedarwood has provided a rich, developmentally responsive education that combines strong academics with creativity, movement, meaningful relationships, and hands-on learning. Our curriculum is designed to meet students at each stage of their development, building skills and understanding while encouraging curiosity, imagination, and an active engagement with the world around them.
Students experience a broad and engaging curriculum that includes language arts, mathematics, science, history, Spanish, Japanese, music, movement, eurythmy, handwork, woodworking, and digital citizenship. Artistic and practical experiences are integrated throughout the school day, giving students many different ways to explore ideas, develop skills, and express their understanding. As students grow, the curriculum grows with them, moving from imaginative, experience-rich learning in the early years toward increasingly independent, analytical, and complex work in the middle school grades.
At the heart of Cedarwood is a close-knit community where teachers know their students well and relationships are an important part of learning. Our students are encouraged to ask meaningful questions, take intellectual and creative risks, collaborate with others, and develop confidence in their own abilities. Located just south of downtown Portland in the historic Neighborhood House and across from Lair Hill Park, Cedarwood offers families a thoughtful, relationship-centered approach to education and a strong foundation for high school and the years beyond.

The school now has typical attributes of the Woke educational organization - Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Committee (the school calls it DEIJ with "J" for Justice), the school organized a faculty-lead GSA Club (Gay-Straight Alliance) where children are being educated on LGBTQQIP2SAA+ topic and instructed how to promote it further. Woke activists and their supporters hold the key positions - DEIJ Committee is Woke by design, Woke activist teachers and parents are on the Board of Trustees, and the school Administration is in full support of the new direction.
