St. Michael Indian School was founded by Saint Katharine Drexel of the Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament in 1902.
The mission of the school is to provide students from local Native American communities with a quality education rooted in Catholic values, is sensitive to Native heritage, teaches leadership skills, and enables students to contribute in a culturally diverse world. SMIS serves Pre-Kindergarten through 12th-grade students
