School Notes

Peninsula Montessori School has served families in Palos Verdes and the South Bay since 1978. Our Rancho Palos Verdes campus on Hawthorne Boulevard offers an authentic Montessori education, not a Montessori-inspired one, for children from 18 months through 5th grade.

Programs

  • Toddler, ages 18 months to 2.5 years
  • Preschool (Pre-Primary), ages 2.5 to 5
  • Kindergarten and 1st Grade (Transition), ages 5 to 7
  • 2nd and 3rd Grade (Lower Elementary), ages 7 to 9
  • 4th and 5th Grade (Upper Elementary), ages 9 to 11

Children can grow with us from toddler through 5th grade instead of changing schools every few years, learning in one familiar community with teachers who know them well.

The Montessori difference

Our lead teachers are AMS or AMI certified. Small, multi-age classrooms are filled with hands-on Montessori materials, and each child receives individual and small-group lessons at their own pace across math, language, cultural studies, practical life and sensorial work. Enrichment is built into the school day, including Spanish with a dedicated teacher, physical education, music and computer science (K to 5th grade).

Beyond the classroom

After-school extracurriculars include dance with Webby Dance Company, tennis with Tennis Kids, soccer, chess, Mandarin, Bollywood dance, yoga and Minecraft Education. Our Montessori summer camp runs for toddlers through 5th grade.

For working families

The campus is open Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Extended care runs 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Families join us from Rancho Palos Verdes, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills Estates, Rolling Hills, San Pedro, Lomita, Torrance and Redondo Beach. Book a 30-minute weekday tour at pvpms.com/book-a-tour or call (310) 544-3099.
