Our students drive our programming. Because we take the time to
truly know them, we're able to adapt our teaching to reflect their
passions, strengths, and goals. Whether they're researching
bird migration on Skiff Mountain, building robots, growing
food in the geodome, or crafting storytelling through various
creative channels, students engage deeply-and grow
meaningfully.
At Marvelwood, community is everything. Students are surrounded
by peers and faculty who care deeply-people who listen, encourage,
and walk alongside them every step of the way. Advisors become
trusted mentors. Friends become chosen family. Weekends bring
bonfires and off-campus adventures. Weekdays include meaningful
growth opportunities through community service, leadership, and
creative expression.
A Marvelwood student thrives in a small, nurturing environment
where they can own their experience, lead confidently, and grow
into who they want to become. Marvelwood is for anyone with a
desire to be themselves, to explore their passions, to discover

Jake Burton Carpenter '71 - Jake Burton Carpenter, also known as Jake Burton, is an American snowboarder and founder of Burton Snowboards and one of the inventors of the modern day snowboard.
Blair Patterson '98 - Blair's work for Estée Lauder has been featured on The View, The Today Show and TLC's iVillage, as well as in Nylon and O Magazines and on the covers of Time Out New York and Harper's Bazaar.
Nicholas Benson '83 - Nick was awarded the National Endowment for the Arts National Heritage Fellowship, and in 2010, he was named a MacArthur Fellow by the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation.
Our son joined Marvelwood in the Fall as a junior. He attended other schools before but never felt they were the right fit. At Marvelwood, he found a "home away from home". The size of the community makes it easy to know everyone. The faculty and the learning center are incredibly supportive: they taught our son how to advocate for himself, and develop learning strategies. All the departments of the school outperformed our expectations. And the campus is beautiful!Our son went through a few unfortunate events (death in the family, concussion, leg injury), but we always had a lot of support at all levels from everyone in the community. And he made lifelong friends.Marvelwood also handled the covid 19 crisis extremely well: they had a protocol that everyone followed and it enabled the students to enjoy a "normal school year"!Marvelwood is a place where people care! We are looking forward to his senior year!

My husband went there in one if its first classes. He went to Lehigh and was wait-listed at MIT. He liked school and found faculty kind. He was a very independent learner. He did well in college and is now a retired electrical engineer. He was the only student to go on to a selective engineering school in his class. He was inducted into SIgma Psi at his workplace for research and general technical excellence.
