Summary: This position requires love, patience and respect for children. Provide encouragement for children to become independent. Model appropriate manners and behaviors for children to observe. Instruct children in activities designed to promote social, physical, and intellectual growth following the philosophies of Maria Montessori by performing the following duties: The primary job of a teacher aide is to support the Lead teacher to: maximize his/her ability to educate and guide the children in the classroom. Adhere to company policies and procedures. The teacher aide should be able to maintain the classroom when the Lead teacher exits the room. Help prepare and keep the classroom clean and inviting for children. Lead or assist with individual and/or group activities to stimulate growth of the children in social, emotional and academic areas. Assist the children by helping them complete different work cycles, choosing work, returning work when the child completes his task. Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with children, parents and co-workers. Cleaning duties as assigned. Teacher aide will follow the direction of the Lead teacher and/or supervising teacher during hours of work. Other duties as assigned by the Lead teacher or director.
